The Geffrye: Museum of the Home

The Geffrye explores 'the home' from around 1600 to the present day, focussing on living rooms of the urban middle classes in England, particularly London. You'll see how homes have been used and furnished over this period, reflecting changes in society and patterns of behaviour as well as style, fashion and taste.

We have a lively programme of special exhibitions and regularly organise events and activities at weekends and during half terms and holidays. Activities are free for all ages unless otherwise stated.

The Geffrye is set in the former almshouses of the Ironmongers Company’s 18th century buildings, among attractive gardens and mature trees..

The Museum also has an online kids zone
