Contact (Contact a Family)

Contact a Family is a UK-wide charity providing advice, information and support to parents of disabled children.

We aim to improve the quality of life of these families by working to eliminate the practical, physical, financial and emotional barriers that can isolate them from their communities and society at large.

Our services include:

  • Freephone helpline for parents and carers: offers advice on welfare rights, community care issues and educational needs as well as a listening ear, with access to interpreters.
  • Family linking and networking for parents: links parents of children with the same disability or condition, on a local and national level. You can register for this service by phoning our helpline or via the makingcontact.org website. We're also on Facebook and Twitter
  • Online and print publications for parents, professionals and support groups, including the 'Contact a Family Directory - the essential guide to medical conditions, disabilities and support groups'.
